The Scott Leroux Fund for Media Arts Exploration is an annual residency program for media arts exploration and discovery

Scott Leroux

About the Fund

Artist Scott Leroux was a creative force during the time he spent making artwork at VP. He had boundless energy and an ability to bring people together around his and others’ acts of expression. Scott was a multi-talented musician and composer, photographer and video artist, and developed a unique artistic process through experimentation. His presence breathed an air of curiosity into VP’s studios.

Suddenly, and sadly, Scott passed away on October 29, 2016. VP is honoured that his creative legacy will continue through this program started by the Leroux family in Scott's name. Through a combined effort between the Leroux family and VP, the Scott Leroux Fund for Media Arts Exploration (SLFMAE) offers $2000 for a one-month residency exploring a specific technology and related aesthetic approaches. Artists are encouraged to spend their time experimenting and pushing the boundaries of their practice, using VP's facilities as a ‘living laboratory’ where work can be explored, developed, exhibited, and discussed. Artists are invited to propose a project through the guidelines below.

This year's SLFMAE has been made possible through the generous donations from Janice + Doug Leroux and family, Sean + Wendy Post, and Diane + Ernie Mee.
