VPMAC is seeking a Collections and Digitization Assistant to join our team for the summer
Type: Contract Remuneration: $17.50/hr at 30 hours/week for approximately 12 weeks
Video Pool Media Arts Centre is hiring for the position of Digitization and Collections Assistant. This is a 12-week position at 30 hours/week. This position is supported by the Young Canada Works program, as such, we are looking for a current student under the age of 30 who will be returning to school in the fall. The position would best fit a post-secondary student studying Art History, Archives, or Fine Art and have an interest in media art. The Digitization and Collections Assistant will collaborate closely with the Distribution and Tech departments to relocate the current vault to the 3rd floor and digitize titles to be stored on an LTO drive. This role offers the chosen candidate a valuable chance to develop skills in collections management, arts administration, and media archiving. VPMAC is committed to offering training and support in the digitization suite, allowing the candidate to acquire practical knowledge in media preservation and collection management. The ideal candidate should be adept at working independently and possess a strong proficiency with technology.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE
o Meet the requirements for YCW positions ( Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, valid SIN, between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and be a high school, college, CEGEP, or university student.)
o Be a post-secondary student studying Art History, Archives of Fine Art, or a related field
o Proficient in working in a Mac environment. Experience with video technology and digital editing software will be considered an advantage.
o Familiarity with fundamental website maintenance and the use of content management systems is considered an asset.
o Must be capable of lifting to 15 lbs and performing moderate physical tasks associated with moving the vault.
o Reliable, and demonstrated capacity to work well as part of a team.
o Strong organizational skills.
o Demonstrated ability for attention to detail.
o The ability to take direction and to self-direct
