Temporal Contours v09: The Latent Body

Originally planned as an in-person concert for pre-COVID Winnipeg, v09 of Temporal Contours took a number of twists and turns on the road to its realization, some related to the on-going negotiation of pandemic measures and others out of the desire from both the artists here as well as Video Pool as an organization not to take away space or distract from the greater causes at hand. In place of the live event we present to you four intimate, studio / apartment based recordings for your listening and viewing pleasure.

Temporal Contours v.08: Grain of Voice

The 8th edition of Video Pool’s experimental sounds series Temporal Contours investigates the moment of sonic materialization as generated through corporeal language and noise with special performances by these excellent acts. Temporal Contours v07

Anju Singh has been the primary figure behind the Vancouver Noise Festival for the past seven years, the drummer and vocalist in long-running (and now nearing fully-realized) death metal band AHNA, and has held countless other roles in the punk, metal, and harsh noise scenes in Vancouver. THE NAUSEA has existed alongside all of this for the better part of a decade now.

Temporal Contours v06

Tim Olive uses modified magnetic pickups, consumer detritus (springs, styrofoam, metal sheets, hand-wound motors, magnetic tape, dental floss) and analog electronics to make a lo-fi, difficult-to-categorize music, existing at the intersection of noise, live electronic music, and musique concrete, with sound-textures and scraps of pitched material evolving, shifting and mutating in real time, resulting in a music which is uncanny, uneasy, and yet somehow beautiful.

Temporal Contours v.04

Temporal Contours is a quarterly series of audio experimentation presented in a live (and hopefully future exhibition) setting, typically held in The Output. The intent is to provide a stage for artists working in sound to share their creative efforts, regardless of experience: we love to see new projects and people! We will be holding an open call in the near future in an effort to allow more artists to access this arena. Details of this will be released shortly so please stay tuned. We typically showcase work from local artists but occasionally are able to host others.

Temporal Contours v03

Temporal Contours is a quarterly series of audio-based performances hosted by Video Pool and co-presented with send+receive: a festival of sound and Eye and Ear Control Records. For version 03 we’re excited to present 3 artists who fill the spectrum of distance from refined and developed gestures to the boundary-challenging experimentation of their own practice.

Temporal Contours v.02

Temporal Contours is intended to create an open, inclusive and comfortable space for the exploration and experimentation of all things sonic. For version 02 we’re thrilled to be able to host from California, Henry Kaiser, as well as sets from local Rosa Reaper and a new project called Raze, made up of two members of Civvie.
