3D Printing for Artists: An Introduction

In this 2-day workshop artists will be introduced to 3D printing and how it can be brought into their own practice. We will cover software, hardware, and 3d model resources. Participants will be familiarized with the different types of printers, understand how to make a “watertight model” for printing, and where to find free 3d models online. Workshop includes a visit to Northforge FabLab. No experience necessary.

Instructor:  Erika Lincoln

Erika Lincoln is a Canadian artist whose practice is centered around digitization. Her work functions to trace the procedural and conceptual nature of digital methods by way of iterations alternating between material and digital. Her work has shown in media art festivals, museums, and galleries in Canada, Europe, the United States, and Australia. She is a multi-year grant recipient and has participated in residencies at the Banff New Media Institute in Canada and Medialab Prado in Spain and the City of Winnipeg’s Planning Department.
