Projection Mapping with jaymez

This two day workshop with local projection artist jaymez will be an intensive introduction into the world of projection and architectural mapping. This course is focused on the theories and practices of taking projections outside of the rectangle and shine light on the secrets of bringing structures to life video.   Participants will be introduced to a number of methods and techniques for twisting their video images around physical objects using a variety of software applications.  Because of the intensive nature of this workshop, participants are expected to have some knowledge of video editing, exporting and codec and should come with some clips ready to be manipulated.  Participants are also encouraged to bring objects that can be mapped on, no specific size or shape requirements, however the should fit in the video pool studio.

It is advised that participants have some knowledge of video editing.  There will be talk of  about codecs and aspect ratios and media formats.  Also they will be doing some pre-mapping in premiere / final cut / after effects, so it will help if the participants know their way around one of those programs.

About the instructor:

With a multi-faceted and distinct visual style, jaymez has worked in the visual art, dance, theatre and music communities.   His video work has appeared in a number of international festivals, theatrical and dance productions and he has performed live video alongside dozens of  local and international musicians and artists.  jaymez recently premiered his new solo gallery exhibition, an installation / performance called prägnanz at aceartinc in Winnipeg.  He currently sits on the board of Video Pool Media Arts Centre.  jaymez holds a BFA in Video from the University of Manitoba.
