Scott Leroux Fund 2022 Recipient

VP is excited to announce that Meghana Iyer is the recipient for the Scott Leroux Fund for Media Arts Exploration for 2022! Meghana will be joining us in late March and will spend time with Colby Richardson in VP's new Analog Video Suite!

For this residency, Meghana will receive $2000 plus $1500 in mentorship and technical support as well as unlimited access to the Analog Video Suite.

Maghana says:
My goal during this residency is to further delve into the complexities of analog technology and attempt to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding it. While undergoing this process, I hope to be challenged and confronted about the underlying anxiety I have with how fast technology is progressing and to better understand this emotional part of me. With texture being a fond interest of mine, I am extremely excited to explore and create digital textures with analog gear. The spontaneity and uncertainty that come with using this type of equipment make the performative aspect of it quite intriguing; this is an element I look forward to exploring as well.

Bio
Based in Calgary Alberta, Meghana Iyer is a current third-year Time-Based Media Arts student at Alberta University of the Arts. From a young age, the use of digital arts has been prominent for most of her life. With such a fond interest in the use of technology, today she primarily uses digital mediums such as cut-out animation and experimental video art. In contrast to using digital mediums, she also uses glass techniques such as sandblasting, blown glass, and mould work. Meghana is an avid skateboarder and it acts as a source of inspiration for many of her works. She strives to mesh the worlds of skateboarding, video art, and glass art to convey her unique and personal perspective.
