VP is seeking a Collections and Digitization Assistant to join our team for the summer
Type: Contract Remuneration: $18.50/hr at 28 hours/week for approximately 11 weeks
Video Pool Media Arts Centre (VPMAC) is seeking a Digitization and Collections Assistant to join our team. This position is supported by the Young Canada Works (YCW) program, so applicants must be: under the age of 30, currently enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies, and returning to school in the fall of 2025.
Position Overview:
The Digitization and Collections Assistant will collaborate closely with the Collections and Tech departments to digitize titles from the VPMAC catalogue, following archival standards for media preservation. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in media archiving, collections management, and arts administration. VPMAC provides comprehensive training and support in its digitization suite, ensuring the successful candidate develops practical skills in media preservation and collection management.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be a post-secondary student studying Art History, Library Sciences, Archival Studies, Film Production, or Fine Art.
- Demonstrate an interest in media art and archival practices.
- Be proficient in working within a Mac environment.
- Have a working knowledge of WordPress, Vimeo, and G-suite
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently,
- Have the ability to take direction and self-direct effectively.
- Be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
