About
VP’s Video Commission Residency (VCR) is a residency / artwork commission focused on experimental, single-channel video artworks.
Artists will have full access to VP’s available equipment and facilities during their residency and applicants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the available equipment on VP’s website.
VP gives priority to prairie artists with a focus on experimental video or A/V artworks but artists from anywhere in Canada are encouraged to apply.
VP will offer each successful artist a fee of $1500 for the commission and subsequent exhibition in Poolside Gallery.
DETAILS
Recipients will receive the following from VP:
- A one-year membership to access VP suites and equipment (a $650 value)
- Exhibition of the completed work at VP's Poolside Gallery
- Artist Fee of $1500 (See annual call details)
- Exclusive distribution through VP's distribution department
- Technical support for installation
- Technical support on VP's equipment and facilities
Equipment & Facility Rentals:
During the residency, artists will have unlimited access to VP's equipment and facilities as it relates to the development of their work. The membership will also grant you access to VP outside the residency as per VP membership policy (see website for details under Access Policy).
Exhibition or Presentation
Recipients will have their work exhibited in VP's Poolside Gallery for one to three months that will include an opening reception and photo documentation of the work.

Eligibility
- Members can only hold one residency or fund at a time at VP.
- Experimental video art proposals only please
- Works produced for school are not eligible.
- Commercial projects are not eligible.
