Sony HD Camera Basics

fs100Over this two day workshop we will be working with Video Pool’s HD cameras such the Sony FS700, FS100, and the Z1u. Participants will learn to use the manual settings of these cameras, gaining greater control to produce video of the highest quality. We’ll be learning about exposure, white balance, gain control, shutter settings, audio settings, lighting situations, zebra stripes and more!

INTRODUCTION TO ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS

Adobe After Effects is a digital animation tool whose range of possibilities is virtually limitless. After Effects allows users to animate, alter, and composite media in 2D and 3D space with various built-in tools and third party plug-ins. Adobe After Effects is used with Avid, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator and other software. Filmmakers use Adobe After Effects to alter and enhance video images and bring a new level to their productions.

Physical Computing with the Arduino

This workshops aim to bridge the gap between the virtual/digital world of computers and the physical world towards creating imaginative meaningful links between users and systems. Topics will include; interactive vs reactive, sensors and actuators, making vs hacking and critical thinking amongst others.

Doug Lewis – Artist Talk and Screening

Video Pool Media Arts Centre invites you to attend an Artist Talk and Screening by Winnipeg artist and curator Doug Lewis. Lewis will be presenting his latest work “Screenplay” and discussing the ‘screen’ as an object that holds both our anticipation and simultaneously delays our sense of expectation. In addition, Lewis will be drawing parallels between neurological functions and cinematic perceptions based upon the recently released book Memory by Alison Winter.
