Catalogue Spotlight:
February 2026
Welcome to VP Distribution's February 2026 Catalogue Spotlight ⋆˙⟡♡
February, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
February is familiar to us prairie-dwellers as one of the coldest and most desolate months of the year, which makes it the perfect month to contain the warmest and most romantic holiday — Valentine's Day!
St. Valentine is most well known for being the patron saint of lovers and marriage, probably less so for his association with beekeeping, fainting, epilepsy, the plague, and travellers. The idea of lovers being travellers really speaks to me personally, there is a liminality and ephemeral nature to connection and desire.

I think that is why holidays like Valentine's Day matter, because they remind us to slow down and be with the people we love in a more conscious and mindful way, ideally bringing some of that slow-burn romantic spirit into our every day lives. For this very special Valentine's edition of VP's catalogue spotlight I've curated three films that focus on themes of love, desire, and memory.
Happy Valentine's!

Keemooch by Howard Adler and Nathan Adler, 2019
A short film on the subject of Indigenous Love. What is (romantic) love? And what does it mean to you? 8 couples share their thoughts.
Couplings by Larry Glawson, 1992
Couplings presents images of 38 men and women both as individuals and in various configurations. It tweaks received values which may underlie assumptions and prejudices about what is and isn’t appropriate in intimate relationships. A poignant score by Cathy Nosaty combined with still imagery, live video and computer reconstruction allows an exploration of both human desire and desire’s function in a search for social unity.
A Separate Peace by Kegan McFadden, 2021
Comprising five hundred images McFadden assembled to investigate the nature of homosocial and queer male relationships, "A Separate Peace" includes the reading of an eponymous essay the artist wrote in response to this collection and the end of his longterm relationship.
