Hiring for Digitization Services

This opportunity is for BIPOC folks, with preference given to women/non-binary folks, folks with disabilities, folks who identify as 2SLGQTQI+. Some skills required, but there will be training on the job also.

This is an opportunity to hone some digital skills!

VPMAC is a leader in digitizing work for folks, from large institutions to your parents old VHS tapes. We’re currently looking for someone to work on contract, as needed, to digitize the work in both audio and video formats. At the moment, that amounts to about 120+ total hours, but there will always be more. How the hours are used up is flexible, so long as they fit within the clients timeline for delivery.

We go through a lot of equipment in our practices and industry. I think most of us try to hold onto our gear as long as possible because it becomes such an important part of our workflow. We’re excited to upgrade, but there is integration time, environmental costs, and actual costs to upgrading equipment. Brady Allard-The Five Drones

The Five Drones is an exploration of the concept of drones in modern society. The installation is inspired by the term drone–a continuous, low-pitched sound, and the various connotations of the word in popular culture. As I reflect on the world we live in, I am struck by the increasing reliance on AI, technology, and the potential consequences this may have for humanity.

AI-A-THON: Call for Indigenous Artists

Harbour Collective, in partnership with Video Pool Media Arts Centre, are responding to the disproportionate and biased imagery of Indigenous art within artificial intelligence and machine learning. The AI-A-THON will bring together four facilitators and up to 15 guest Indigenous artists to contribute to the development of contemporary First Nation, Metis and Inuit artists represented within the AI environment through a series of online and in person LABs.
