Sound: A Comprehensive Audio Workshop Series with Andy Rudolph

Audio Editing for Dancers with Kayla Jeanson
Learn the basics of digital audio editing for performance. This course is designed especially for dance teachers and choreographers looking for a fast, easy, and cheap way to cut and mix music. Software covered includes Audacity and Reaper (free downloads here: Audacity and here: Reaper ).
Biology as a New Art Medium: Workshop with Marta De Menezes
This workshop aims to explore the multiple possibilities of artistic approaches that can be developed in relation to Art and Microbiology in a DIY situation. A special emphasis will be placed on the development of collaborative art and microbiology projects where the artist has to learn some biological research skills in order to create the artwork. The course will consist of a series of intense experimental sessions that will give raise to discussions on the artistic, aesthetic and ethical issues raised by the art and the science involved. Handling these materials and organisms will provoke a reflection on the theoretical issues involved and the course will provide background information on the current diversity of artistic discourses centred on biological sciences, as well a forum for debate.
Basic Electronics – Digital Logic with Andrew Milne
Learning how to create with electronics can be a very challenging process for an individual to learn without significant support. Many concepts and skills need to be internalized before independent learning and development can efficiently take place. In response to this obstacle for developing media creators, Video Pool Media Arts Centre will provide a mini-course in DIY Technology Design and Creation for Winnipeg media artists.

After Effects is a digital animation tool with a range of possibilities that is virtually limitless. After Effects allows users to animate, alter, and composite media with various built-in tools and third party plug-ins. Filmmakers can use After Effects to alter and enhance video images, create animated sequences and fun titles. Learn the basic operations of this software in this introductory workshop.

Camera Fundamentals – Workshop
Over this two evening workshop we will be working with Video Pool’s Sony HD cameras such the Sony FS700, FS100, NEX EA50 as well as an introduction to the 4K PXW FS7. Participants will learn to use the manual settings of these cameras, gaining greater control to produce video of the highest quality. We’ll be learning about exposure, white balance, gain control, shutter settings, audio settings, lighting situations, zebra stripes and more!
Sony PXW-FS7 4K Camera Workshop
This workshop is specific to Video Pool’s newest camera the Sony PXW-FS7. The Sony PXW-FS7 has a sensor that contains 8 million pixels, four times the resolution of our HD cameras. If you love the images from our NEX-FS700 and FS100 cameras, you will be absolutely thrilled by the 4K images from the Super35 sensor on this camera. The detail, sensitivity and depth that the FS7 is capable of producing is astounding but it requires a skilled hand to wield it to it’s fullest potential.
