Introduction to Final Cut Pro X – Workshop

Final Cut Pro X is a revolutionary video editing application that makes it possible for beginners and seasoned professionals to achieve stunning results. This two evening, hands-on workshop teaches students to perform basic editing functions while becoming familiar with the user interface. Start with basic video editing techniques and learn the practical techniques used daily in editing projects.

Camera Fundamentals – Workshop

Over this two evening workshop we will be working with Video Pool’s Sony HD cameras such the Sony FS700, FS100, NEX EA50 as well as an introduction to the 4K PXW FS7. Participants will learn to use the manual settings of these cameras, gaining greater control to produce video of the highest quality. We’ll be learning about exposure, white balance, gain control, shutter settings, audio settings, lighting situations, zebra stripes and more!

Sony PXW-FS7 4K Camera Workshop

This workshop is specific to Video Pool’s newest camera the Sony PXW-FS7. The Sony PXW-FS7 has a sensor that contains 8 million pixels, four times the resolution of our HD cameras. If you love the images from our NEX-FS700 and FS100 cameras, you will be absolutely thrilled by the 4K images from the Super35 sensor on this camera. The detail, sensitivity and depth that the FS7 is capable of producing is astounding but it requires a skilled hand to wield it to it’s fullest potential.

POST AUDIO FUNDAMENTALS

This one day, 3 hour workshop in partnership with Video Pool will be designed to provide a solid basis in the mixing and creation of sound design elements for film, television, video games and online video content. Other topics included will be an intro to composition, restoration, and mastering for digital.

Dry Media: A Herbarium Art Workshop – Summer Edition

A herbarium is a biorepository of dried, preserved plant specimens for scientific study. The University of Manitoba Herbarium houses the largest collection of vascular plants in Manitoba, with over 76,000 records. Artists will gain access to this plant collection, and have the opportunity to draw from pressed plant specimens, microscopes, and microphotography.

DIY Technology Design and Creation Mini-Course – Andrew Milne

AndrewZoomedLearning how to create with electronics can be a very challenging process for an individual to learn without significant support. Many concepts and skills need to be internalized before independent learning and development can efficiently take place. In response to this obstacle for developing media creators, Video Pool Media Arts Centre will provide a mini-course in DIY Technology Design and Creation for Winnipeg media artists.

Artists will gain access to this plant collection, view specimens beneath dissection microscopes, and capture images with a microscope camera. Projects resulting from the workshop (not limited to drawings) will be shown in a group exhibit at the Edge Gallery from February 20th-March 6th 2015.

ONE ON ONE’S WITH MARIE LOSIER

In conjuction with her visit for Just A Million Dreams: A Retrospective of Marie Losier’s Fantastical Portraiture, co-presented by WNDX, Marie Losier (France) will deliver one-on-one workshops with filmmakers and artists of any background and experience. This is your opportunity to get first-hand feedback on your project, your career or just life in general on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Each session will last one hour, time and date of one on one will be coordinated after all spots are filled.
