Participants will explore the basics of Dragonframe and learn fundamentals of animation and basic compositing. Various materials such as drawings, paper, cut-outs and everyday objects will be used.

Participants will learn basic lighting techniques for shooting on a blue screen, removing harness wires, removing the background in After Effects, and compositing the subject into a new background.

This cohesive workshop will cover what you need to know about getting a good video interview. We will work on camera basics including settings, colour balance, correct exposure, and audio basics including microphones, lighting issues, and interview styles for different situations. This is a great workshop for those just starting out and want to learn the Video Pool cameras and gear and also for those who want to learn more about on camera interviews.

In addition to outlining the Who, What and Why of your project, your application needs to pitch your story in the right way to the panel of jurors. Are you tired of the terrible title options premiere and final cut offer? Would you like to create some special effects in your short film? Looking to get into digital animation? After Effects is a digital compositing and animation program in the Adobe Creative Suite. In this one evening class we will be working with Video Pool’s HD cameras – Sony FS700, FS100, NEX EA50, with a short intro to the 4K cameras at the end of class. Participants will learn to use the auto and manual settings of these cameras, gaining greater control to produce video of the highest quality. Exposure, white balance, gain control, shutter, audio, zebra stripes and more! We will have hands-on practise with these cameras, and discuss how to manage the media after the shoot.

This introductory workshop is designed for artists looking to expand their work into the realm of computation. We’ll survey the vast landscape of programming languages and focus on several that are well-tailored to the arts. There will be examples of projects developed in visual languages like Max, Puredata and Touch Designer, game design engines such as Unity or Unreal as well as examples in C, Processing, Python and more!

This workshop will be an introduction to DaVinci Resolve, and will cover the basic and alternative editing techniques, colouring tactics and exporting projects. The workshop is beginner and intermediate friendly but my also be appropriate to people interested to switching over from other video editing platforms.
