New to the Catalogue:
Midnight Migrations by Chantal Rousseau and Darcy Tara McDiarmid
Out of the depth of time immemorial, caribou navigate under starlight across a mysterious landscape of pristine beauty. On their long perilous journey of midnight migration, they encounter curious and mischievous animals as they find their way home. The caribou persevere through cataclysmic changes, outrunning all climactic forces from the impact of the people who have turned away from our traditional ways and our spiritual laws.
This film emerged from a collaborative research project between Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, Yukon University, the University of Alberta, and Wildlife Conservation Society Canada. Guided by Tr’ëhudè (our way of life, our law) and the enduring relationship between wëdzey and Dënezhu, we respect and care for wëdzey as they care for us. We hold profound reverence for the ancient sacred relationship between wëdzey and our ancestors and honour their guidance by carrying forward their traditional law teachings to future generations through the release of this film.
