At VP's recent final 40th anniversary party we presented a selection of works from our catalogue from the aughts and tens. It was an absolute delight to revisit so many amazing works. We're so grateful for the wonderful artists who have shared their work with us, those who joined us in celebrating, and our entire community who've supported us over the past 4-0 (!!) years

New Works in the VPMAC Catalogue:

Spirits of Abstruse Lizards  by Ekene Emeka-Maduka (2023)

The Spirit of Abstruse Lizards is a fiction-satire set in a world where conch shells (relics with such long life) transmit phone calls and; liars grow noses like Pinocchio. This work combines Western fiction with Igbo folklore, entangled in lies, as with colonial influence, interference, the crossing of cultures, and alteration: Things that progress for better or worse.

Between Here and There by Daniel H. Dugas (2023)

The Door of Paradise, a massive gate set in front of the Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, becomes the impetus to reflect on the contrast between a life of confinement in the San Quentin State Prison and the freedom represented by the ocean nearby.

Dilemmas of Living by Valerie Leblanc (2023)

Extreme closeups, split screens, and breaking waves are used to represent life’s tensions.

Blushing Phantom by erψn temp3st (2023)

Blushing Phantom is a short experimental film that explores disappearance and camouflage in virtual spaces. It seamlessly blends dance and digital animation, culminating in a maximal collage of bodies, flowers, eyes, and butterflies and gesturing toward the iconography of divinity and online .gifs.

A Miscreant Gnome & Other Charlatans by Raymond Helkio and Peter Lynch (2023)

What does it mean to be queer and homeless during a pandemic? A Miscreant Gnomes & Other Charlatans examines the intersection between the under-housed and the “us versus them” mentality that has become so pervasive in Toronto.
