Workshop Details:

Date: Postponed
Location: Video Pool Media Arts Centre Studio
Fees: $60 member / $80 non-member
Limit: 10 participants

Instructor: Janell Henry

Video Pool Media Arts Centre has a great studio for recording with a big room, isolation booth and mixing room. Using this venue, Janell will talk about the principles of recording and the process in multi-track recording.

In the three hours in the studio, participants will have a hands-on approach to recording by tracking a few instrumental tracks for a new composition by Ojibwe musician, Chuck Copenace, that will be released later in the fall. Workshop participants will route, record and experiment with acoustics and psycho-acoustics through microphone choice and placement. Janell will discuss recording principles while setting up the studio. After tracking, we will explore the pro-tools plug-ins available, such as EQ, compression, delay and how they affect the audio signal in post-production.

No previous experience in multi-track recording is required. Participants are encouraged to ask questions regarding their own recording projects.
