COMMUNITY NOTICE  - Price Increase Coming

AI generated image of cute coins and clouds, with the words Price Increases Coming

Years ago we changed the prices and memberships to be less confusing. While we increased the membership rates, we also decreased the rates for most of the equipment. Alas, times being what they are, we're going to be increasing rates EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2025.

We try to keep things as accessible around here in all the ways, but our beloved equipment grant is no more, and of course, the cost to maintain the gear we do have in always increasing. Austerity is a b****. We'll be increasing prices to all rental items (including suites), by 10%, but membership costs will remain the same. Part of this increase will go into a new equipment replacement fund for when our beloved units bite the dust in one way or another. The other part will go to keeping the lights on.

And speaker of dust biting - it doesn't happen often, but sometimes that gear that goes out doesn't come back in the way it went out, or at all. The policy is such that members are responsible for the repair and replacement, but we understand that this can be an unmanageable burden, so we are implementing a new policy - members who rent equipment valued over 10,000$ combined, for any amount of time, must have insurance on the rental. For rentals under 10,000$, the insurance is optional, but highly recommended as the burden still falls to the member who booked the gear.

This can be done in one of two ways:

  1. The member shows proof that they have coverage through their own insurance
  2. The member purchases temporary insurance from GearPolicy. The total amount of the rental value will now show in the reservation window, and that value can be used to get a quote. Members must prove they have an active policy before picking up the equipment.

We understand this is an added burden, but we feel it's important to make sure we take care of the equipment we have so it can be used for a long time to come. Thanks for being a part of our community and for understanding.
