Mixed tapes are not as common as they used to be. Before high-speed digital transfers, you’d compile tapes and pass them on to your friends. It was a way to gain access to otherwise inaccessible music and build a community of common interests. As curators, the mix tape is a framework for each screening we compile.

A veritable raw mix tape, The Process of Weeding Out intrigues and investigates the intimate, raw and sometime humourous relationships of artists to their environments. Like a classic mix tape, the program flows across a varied array of ideas and approaches to the medium, creating new relationships beween the juxtaposed works.
Jeremy Drummond is an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. His video work has been exhibited at venues across the world, including the Images festival (Toronto) and Transmediale.03 (Berlin)

David Poolman is an Assistant Professor of Art at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. His curatorial work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
