In this 2-day workshop artists will be introduced to 3D printing and how it can be brought into their own practice. We will cover software, hardware, and 3d model resources. Participants will be familiarized with the different types of printers, understand how to make a “watertight model” for printing, and where to find free 3d models online. Workshop includes a visit to Northforge FabLab. No experience necessary.

This workshop will be an introduction to Adobe Premiere Pro, and will cover basic and alternative editing techniques, clip management, title creation and export and compression feature as well as integration into the Creative Cloud suite of products. This workshop is for beginners and intermediate users but may also be helpful for people interested in switching over from Final Cut or Sony Vegas.

Follow along with artist Ken Gregory as he presents the basics of creating electro-magnetic coil transducers to use as a sound pick up, or sound actuator. Everyone will build their own transducer to take away to use on their own projects. Basic theory, easy fabrication, demos of applications and experiments will be presented. No prior electronics experience is required.

Adobe Animate CC is an essential tool for artists who wish to create moving images for traditional video and film, experimental and web-based, interactive animation and media. This course will cover the new potential and use of this newly refurbished and powerful visual media asset along with a hands-on in class use.

Designed for audio artists and videographers just starting, this workshop will teach the basics of editing, mixing, and sound-design in software such as Logic X, Pro Tools, etc. We will cover exporting your project from Adobe Premiere and FCPX to .omf/.aaf formats, how to source royalty-free effects, noise-reduction and a ton of other very useful information to bring you film or video to the next level. Whether you plan to do your own audio post or just want to have a better understanding of how things work when you work with audio engineers this workshop is a must for everyone making movies.

A Sonic Awareness…. Effective field recording is about learning how to listen. This hands-on workshop will teach participants the fine art of discovering and capturing sound in the field. We’ll explore 5 field recording units and an array of different microphones as we learn to really hear what’s coming through the headphones.

In addition to outlining the Who, What and Why of your project, your application needs to pitch your story in the right way to the panel of jurors. Hear some insight into how a jury makes its decision on grant applications and learn tips for how to make your application convincing.
