Memory Awareness Expectations

Our annual exhibition in Platform Gallery (Main Floor 100 Arthur St.) of works by Video Pool’s fundholders. This year’s show includes the 2013 – 2014 recipients of the Media Production Fund and the New Artist in New Media Fund, Shawn Jordan, Jaimie Isaac, Ryan Amadore, Kevin Tabachnik, Marianne Jonasson & Elvira Finnigan. The show will run Tuesday to Saturday, Noon – 5pm July 25 to August 23, 2014.

ONE ON ONE’S WITH MARIE LOSIER

In conjuction with her visit for Just A Million Dreams: A Retrospective of Marie Losier’s Fantastical Portraiture, co-presented by WNDX, Marie Losier (France) will deliver one-on-one workshops with filmmakers and artists of any background and experience. This is your opportunity to get first-hand feedback on your project, your career or just life in general on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Each session will last one hour, time and date of one on one will be coordinated after all spots are filled.

Risa Horowitz spent the month of May 2014 as an Artist in Residence at Video Pool. While here, she developed ideas and prototypes for her work in progress ‘Imaging Saturn’. ‘Imaging Saturn’ visualizes the planet’s motion during the course of its 29 year-long orbit around the sun. In this talk Horowitz shares her processes and experiences in developing a series of micro-controlled kinetic sculptures of the planet that, with image recording devices, will depict its appearance throughout its orbit.

Digital Distribution Platform Announced

Video Pool is excited to share the Canada Council for the Arts’ announcement of a 1.5 million dollar investment into a new digital distribution platform.
We are thrilled to be part of this amazing group of distributors who have been working so hard to get the platform off the ground to benefit Video Pool Members and the Media Arts Community at large.

International Women’s Day 2014

In celebration of International Women’s Day this Saturday, March 8, Video Pool was excited to share three works in our collection made by incredibly talented Manitoban women. Zuma by Sharon Alward, Super by Shawna Dempsey & Lorri Millan and Private Residence by Wendy Geller, were available online to watch over a 48 hour period.
