Orima Bendisse - Artist in Residence for SLFMAE 2026

Scott Leroux Fund for Media Arts Exploration 2026 Recipient

Please Welcome Orima Bendisse to VP's Scott Leroux Residency Program!

It is our pleasure to announce Orima Bendisse as the 2025 recipient of the Scott Leroux Fund for Media Arts Exploration (SLFMAE). In memory of Scott Leroux and supported by the Leroux family, the SLFMAE is an annual, month-long residency focused on the research and exploration of a specific technology and related aesthetic approaches.

This year's edition focuses on the creative manipulation of analog A/V signals through feedback, signal modification, and hybrid digital-analog processes to transform old videotapes and investigate the materiality of electronic images.

About the Artist

Mario Desbiens (Orima Bendisse)

After a hiatus as a philosophy teacher, Mario Desbiens, alias Orima Bendisse, is back, having returned for the last three years to his first love, the moving image. His Sequenzas No. 1 and No. 2 have been presented in a few festivals in Canada and internationally, in the video art and in the experimental film sections. He is presently working on the Sequenza No.3, as well as a multi-screen project about autumn in Gatineau Park. His Sequenza series uses feedback processes and are animated by keyframes. Each one is for a solo instrument - the first one was for English horn, the second for Transverse flute and the third will be for electric bass.

SLFMAE Research

During the residency, Mario plans to explore creative manipulation of analog A/V signals through feedback, signal modification, and hybrid digital-analog processes to transform old videotapes and investigate the materiality of electronic images.
