Tech-Forward Art Dialogues (TAD)
Who Gets to Make the Future? Technology, Bodies & Power
Who gets to shape the technologies that shape our lives? Explore technology, identity, accessibility and power through feminist, queer, Indigenous, racialized, disabled and other marginalized creative practices.
Reclaim, Subvert, Reimagine.
Who gets to shape the technologies that shape our lives?
This Tech-Forward Art Dialogue explores the relationships between technology, bodies, identity and power through feminist, queer, Indigenous, racialized, disabled and other marginalized creative practices. From DIY electronics and hacking to surveillance, digital labour, gaming, accessibility and speculative design, artists are questioning who technology is built for, who gets left out, and who gets to make it. What happens when we move beyond adapting to existing technologies and begin to reclaim, subvert and reimagine them?

More about the Tech-Forward Art Dialogues
In 2024, Video Pool Media Arts Centre (VP) launched the Tech-Forward Art Dialogues (TAD) series to listen. We asked artists, educators, and community members what they needed from VP and where media arts should go next. Those conversations helped shape new education initiatives, partnerships, and programming.
Now, two years later, the conversation is evolving.
The TADs turns its focus to the big questions shaping the future of media arts. Together, we'll explore timely topics at the intersection of technology, creativity, ethics, accessibility, and sustainability through community dialogue.
These aren't lectures. They're conversations we all hold about the ideas that challenge us, excite us, and sometimes keep us awake at night.
